Reunion planned for 2015

A CHANCE meeting with an old primary school teacher and football coach got John Hollingsworth thinking about a Casino school reunion.

As a student of both Casino Primary and the old Casino High School, Mr Hollingsworth said the last reunion students, who attended the school between 1953- 965, had was back in 1983.

"I had attended a football reunion at the Casino RSM Club in 2013 and my old football coach Des Burke was there," he said.

"I have now set up a website and just started to get in touch with ex-students."

Mr Hollingsworth, better known as Holly at school, is hoping to get the reunion happening during Beef Week next year.

"We should all be at retirement age by now," he said. "Beef Week gives people things to do and we hope to have a reunion dinner."

While sport was a big part of Mr Hollingsworth's school years, he remembers the play Gypsy Gay that was performed in 1960 when he was in sixth class.

"I still remember our lines from the play," he laughed. If you would like to know more about the reunion, contact Mr Hollingsworth on the website casinoschool reunion53-65.net.
