Retailers may not get new leases

RETAILERS at Alstonville's The Plaza are furious with centre management after they discovered that up to six of them would likely not be offered new leases.

The move is believed to allow for the possible expansion of Coles' Supermarket.

It allegedly came to light when a store owner went to check on her lease ahead of a proposed sale of her business and was told she would not be offered one.

But the Alstonville Chamber of Commerce has defended The Plaza's management and said a bigger Coles, which was only a proposal at this stage, would be a boon for the town.
