MAN HUNT: Highway crash chase takes police to high school

UPDATE, 5.30pm: POLICE have been unable to track one of the offenders after a search of Kadina High School but are scouting the surrounding area.

A number of police cars are still involved in the search.

UPDATE 4.55pm: POLICE have tracked one of the suspected offenders involved in the crash at Alstonville to Kadina High campus in Goonellabah. 

Dog squad officers are patrolling the school to find the man.

Police are unsure about his identity at this stage.

UPDATE 4.40pm: THERE are reports three men were seen doing a runner from the car that crashed on the Bruxner Highway, a NSW Police Media spokesman said.

A tow truck has arrived on scene to remove the unoccupied car. 


UPDATE 4.35pm: POLICE are pursuing the occupants of a vehicle which crashed in the Alstonville area a short time ago.

Richmond Local Area Command Sergeant Matt Johnson said the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash on foot.

Police are surrounding the area and hoping to have a "resolution" to the situation shortly.


UPDATE 4.25pm: NSW Fire and Rescue, SES and police crews are on the scene of a single vehicle crash that occured about 3.50pm on the Bruxner Hwy.

Traffic heading towards Lismore is at a standstill while northbound traffic is slow. 


THURSDAY 4.10pm: EMERGENCY services are on their way to Bruxner Hwy near Alstonville after reports of a motor vehicle crash.

Initial reports indicate that a person is trapped.

A New South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed crews were called at 3.50pm and are on the way to the scene.
