Renshaw rested for rest of Test with concussion

AUSTRALIAN opener Matt Renshaw has been ruled out of the rest of the third Test against Pakistan due to a concussion.

Renshaw copped a heavy blow to the head while fielding in close on day three of the Test on Thursday.

He had also been hit on the helmet while batting in the first innings on the way to his first Test century.

Australian team doctor Peter Brukner said Renshaw had passed the tests on Thursday night on his "cognitive, balance, co-ordination and reaction times” but the decision had been made on Friday morning to withdraw him from the rest of the match as he was suffering from concussion.

"On Friday morning he was still symptomatic so we have taken the decision to withdraw him from the match as he is suffering from concussion,” Dr Brukner said.

"We will continue to monitor him over the coming days and work with him to produce a gradual return.”

Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has been cleared to play on Friday after missing most of day three due to nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
