Rejoicing over reading room
PATRICK Hearty loves the new reading room at the Casino library.
It's light and airy and there's plenty of room to spread out and read all the daily national, Sydney and local newspapers.
“I think the library is wonderful,” Mr Hearty said.
“It's just as good as what you get in Sydney.”
The new reading room was added to the library as part of a $408,000 extension and refit completed last week.
The work included a new ceiling and lighting in the existing library, new carpet throughout, and fresh paint.
The public access computers have been relocated to the former meeting room which has become a dedicated IT centre.
Regional library manager Gary Ellem said the project had made a “massive improvement” to the library. “We were certainly suffering from overcrowding before – some of the shelves were very tightly spaced,” he said.
“We now have much more room and there's more natural light.
"The extra space gives us the potential to hold functions at the library and do a lot of other things that until now we couldn't do.
"Everyone who has come into the library this week has commented on how open and much more comfortable it is.”
