Region cops best rainfall in months overnight
PEOPLE across the Northern Rivers have woken up to the best rainfall figures in months after last night's downpour.
In some areas the heavens opened and the rain fell continuously for several hours, with Cawongla near Kyogle receiving the highest total in the region of 73mm in the past 24 hours to 9am.
Other healthy rainfall totals included 64mm at Green Pigeon, 59mm at Kyogle and 53mm at Nimbin.
Today's Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Lismore is for a cloudy day with and 80% chance of rain.
The chance of showers will become less likely later this afternoon and evening.
A maximum temperature of 26 is predicted, with light winds.
Temperatures will heat up tomorrow and Saturday with predicted tops of 29 degrees and 30 degrees and a 50% chance of rain.
On Sunday the forecast is for a top temperature of 24 degrees with a 60% chance of rain.
