Reggaefest set to rock Ballina

THERE will be another attempt at holding a music festival in Ballina this year.

The Reggaefest Roots and Culture Music Festival is planned for September 17-18 at Missingham Park in Ballina.

It follows in the wake in the past 10 years of the Beats on the Beach festival and the Raggamuffin festival, both of which were held only once in town.

The Reggaefest Roots and Culture Music Festival is expecting approximately 2000 people to attend, with a large proportion of those being out-of-town visitors.

Reggaefest director Raz Harel said: “Ballina has so much to offer and the new location is world-class.We're working closely with local businesses and community groups such as the Ballina Youth Centre and Bunjum Aboriginal Co-operative to provide an event that is going to boost the local economy as well as involve members of the community and showcase local talent,” Mr Harel said.

“The festival will feature 22 hours of live music over two stages, cultural workshops, displays by local artists, an outdoor cinema, a vibrant marketplace offering local craft and global food and a supervised kids' zone with fun and activities.

Tickets are on sale now for $89 for the two days.

Specials are available for children and families.
