Refugee becomes doctor and is at Goonellabah to share story

THE story of Dr Munjed Al Muderis's escape from Saddam Hussein's Iraq to detention on Christmas Island and becoming an intern at Lismore Base Hospital will feature in this month's Goonellabah Library Author's talk. 

After his local internship, Al Muderis went on to become a leading orthopaedic specialist transforming the lives of former soldiers.

Dr Al Muderis will return to Lismore to discuss his 15-year journey and book, Walking Free, with local residents.

The author's talk will be held at the Goonellabah Library at 7pm on Saturday.
