Police on man hunt after Red Rooster raided by robbers

POLICE are looking for three men in relation to a robbery of a fast food outlet on Tuesday night.

It is alleged about 9pm the males, armed with a rifle and knives, smashed their way inside the store on the eastern side of the Bray St Red Rooster before confronting a staff member demanding cash.

A small group of staff members working in the kitchen escaped via the rear exit and ran to the adjacent Hungry Jacks store to raise the alarm.

Management of Hungry Jacks immediately contacted police and locked their doors while waiting for the authorities to arrive.

It is believed there was only one Red Rooster employee who remained in the store during the robbery.

The men fled the scene with an undisclosed sum of money.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command established a crime scene and conducted a search using a police dog. The offenders could not be located.

Investigators will view CCTV from the area in a bid to identify those responsible.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery should contact Coffs Harbour Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
