Rebels associate faces drug charges after police raid

A REBELS gang associate will face court on a variety of drug charges after police raided his Bribie Island home this morning.

The 35-year-old is accused of producing dangerous drugs including cannabis and steroids in the property.

His Endeavour Drive home was raided by police Task Force Maxima who uncovered 25 cannabis plants, steroids and utensils to brew steroids.

It's unclear how many charges the man will face yet.

Police told the media earlier today that they had confiscated an IPad which showed footage of the man and an accomplice building rooms to house the drugs.

One room housed the 25 cannabis plants and another had just been completed for an unknown purpose.

A car from the property had also been seized.

The man's girlfriend was also being questioned by police in relation to her involvement.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of Task Force Maxima said it was unclear how much the drugs were worth but he said the street value would have been well into the thousands.

"These gangs every day they say we are picking on them but they deserve to be picked on," Det Inspect Smith said.

He said the raid was one of more than a dozen successful raids conduced by police in the last week which stretched from the Gold Coast to Bundaberg.
