LONG gone are the days of keeping up with the Joneses, now it is all about the Kardashians.
The American hit television series which first aired in 2007 is soon to be in its sixth season and the success of the show has made the Kardashians a household name.
The reality show chronicles the often chaotic domestic and professional lives of the family members.
With each new season or spin-off, the Kardashian empire continues to grow.
First off the rank was Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, then came Kourtney and Kim Take New York and, most recently, Khloe and Lamar.
In a candid chat with The Guide, Khloe spoke of the pressures of life in the public eye, being the “little sister” and her husband Lamar.
One thing that takes its toll on the starlet is the constant media circus and the “rubbish” printed in the tabloids.
She said she tried not to read any of it, but sometimes she couldn't hide from it.
“It usually goes in one ear and out the other,” she said.
“If I feel sad about anything I have heard or seen in the papers, my family is always there for me.
“When the papers say ‘I'm the fat one' my sisters always come over and say ‘you're beautiful', ‘I wish I had your legs' or ‘ I wish I was 5'10'.
“They make me feel better. I am lucky to have a great family base.”
The most vocal and opinionated of the three sisters, Khloe was a viewer favourite in Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but in 2009 she sent shockwaves through the family when she announced just one month after they began dating that she would marry basketball superstar Lamar Odom.
Her new series documents how she juggles marriage, family and her many entrepreneurial endeavours.
“I didn't really want to do the show at the beginning,” she said.
“I wanted to give Lamar and I some privacy, but Lamar wanted to do the show, so I agreed. I thought it would be a good chance for people to see me as an individual, not the little sister of Kim or Kourtney.”
Khloe said it was a dream come true to get paid to work with her family.
