Razorbacks cut through competition at state challenge

THE Northern Razorbacks cricket team has made a strong start in the Under-13 State Challenge in Dubbo.

Far North Coast players Joe Carlton, Tim Martin, Charles Mitchell, Ben Moyle and Will Nash are part of the team.

They had a 39-run win against the West City Scorpions in the first round of competition.

Mitchell (37) and Moyle (34) opened the batting and put on a 50-run partnership as the Razorbacks finished 8-188 after 50 overs.

In other games, Carlton was among the wicket-takers when the Razorbacks played the North City Silverbacks yesterday.

They bowled North City all out for 111 after 37.3 overs.

The Razorbacks play the Western Riverina Kangaroos today with finals set down for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Tobyn Burvill, Isaac Fisher and Nathanael Scott will be back in Ballina colours today.

The trio started out as juniors on the FNC and have been playing in Queensland this year.

Ballina is playing Tweed in the Country Challenge Twenty20 invitational game as part of the NSW Baggy Blues visit.

The Ballina team will be captained by former NSW wicket-keeper Phil Emery while Tweed has Shane Lee as skipper.

Coaching clinics will be held before the game starts at 4pm at Rabjones Oval, Murwillumbah.

Spectators are asked to bring a gold coin donation on entry into the ground.
