CSG Rally is now a movie

FIRST there was CSG the Musical, now brace yourself for Rock The Gate the Movie coming to a theatre near you.

The 90-minute production, captures the anti-coal seam gas concert and rally held in Lismore on May 12 which drew a crowd of 7000.

It will have its world premiere in Lismore's Star Court Theatre on August 9.

Director and co-producer David Lowe said as well as highlights from the protest rally and concert performances "on that historic day", the film features interviews with many of the key players.

Mr Lowe, a graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, said the movie was being produced in full high definition and the soundtrack was being mastered in 5.1 surround.

"People will be knocked out by the quality we've achieved on a minimal budget," he said.

"It's not a boring documentary, but a real emotional rollercoaster which also packs an educational punch, with heaps of great music.

"Most of the people involved, including me, have donated all our time and energy to this because of our belief in the cause.

"We had our fine cut screening last night and are now working on sound post-production and titles."

The movie is likely to have a much wider viewing than the Northern Rivers with environmental campaigner Drew Hutton wanting to screen it in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

There will be screenings in Nimbin on August 12 and Byron Bay on August 15. A DVD will be released next month.

All proceeds go to the Lock the Gate Northern Rivers campaign.
