Rain late on weekend for North Coast

AN approaching upper trough will bring rain along the North Coast late in the weekend where a surface trough is expected to deepen.

This trough is expected to remain in place for most of next week and cause widespread heavy rain and flooding along the northern coast and adjacent inland.

At this stage, there is a greater than 70% chance of moderate to major flooding developing in the following river valleys from early Monday onwards:

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Monitor the weather situation over the next few days by listening to weather reports or monitoring the Bureau of meteorology website
  • Check the SES website at www.ses.nsw.gov.au for information on preparing for floods.
  • Plan your long weekend travel with the heavy rain forecast in mind.

For road information contact your local council or RTA.

If you need emergency assistance as a result of flooding, contact your local State Emergency Service Unit by calling 132 500.  The SES is monitoring the situation. Keep listening to this radio station for updates.

For further information contact: Richmond Tweed SES, phone 66257700.
