Rain hits speedway’s big weekend for six

RAIN washed out the major events, including the Australian AMCA Sedan Championship, set down for Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway on Saturday and Sunday nights.

The national title will now be held on Saturday, April 16, while a date is yet to be determined for the NSW V8 Dirt Modified Championship.

The Saturday fixture was interrupted by rain early in the night and promoter David Lander decided to postpone the meeting to yesterday.

The original idea was to start racing early in the day and complete the Saturday night program of the Easter Spectacular before 3pm.

The track surface would then again be prepared and spectators re-admitted for the Sunday night fixture.

But more rain put paid to that plan.

The low budget AMCA division has one of the most keenly contested national titles on the speedway calendar with few modifications allowed to engines.
