Rain expected for one-dayer at the Gabba

CRICKET fans heading to the one-day international at the Gabba tomorrow should bring a raincoat, as Brisbane is likely to get a soaking on Friday.

Rain is expected for Brisbane late Friday thanks to a trough moving through the south-east part of the state.

"There is a chance of some thunderstorms west of Ipswich and through the Darling Downs that will be associated with the trough that is moving across the state at the moment," Bureau of Meteorology spokesman Shaun Luscombe said.

Showers are expected to continue through to Saturday morning, however a southerly change will likely push the rain north of Gladstone by late Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately the showers will not ease the heat, with temperatures expected to reach 32 degrees on Friday.
