Cattle Sales: Rain lifts Lismore prices

A LIGHT yarding of 260 cattle saw prices lift to 30ckg for vealers. With no numbers around saleyards in NSW because of the rain we hope these prices continue.

Light vealers up to 260kg topped at 314c/kg and ranged from 296c to 310c for the best. 260-300kg vealers realised 278-316c/kg with the heavy vealers of 280-340 kg making to 316c/kg.

Few British breed calves were on offer and these ranged from 296-330c/kg.

The cow market was again good with the best making to 258c and returning close to $1600.

Fresh jersey cows ranged from $958-$1168 and plain cows made 170-218c/kg. Light bulls made 240c/kg, eight-tooth bullocks topped at 264c to return $1848.

With numbers down and rain about, hopefully the future is looking good.
