Racing for a good cause

RACING fans will be betting on a good cause when they attend the 2016 Lennox Head Cup today at Ballina Jockey Club.

Ballina Jockey Club's general manager Matthew Bertram said the event was presented by the Lennox Head Stags Golden Oldies in support of the Shake It Up Australia Foundation, which promotes and funds Parkinson's disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

"It's going to be a fantastic day, we have our functions booked out for the day with social groups and two bucks parties,” he said.

"We have even attracted horses from as far north as Brisbane as well as from Armidale.”

For those with an eye on the horses, Mr Bertram said he expected some exciting racing, with the track rated at Grade 3, indicating it is ideal with a good grass coverage and cushioning.

"We also have a free bus running from Lennox Head,” he said.
