'Rachelle brightened everyone's life'

THE family of murdered Sydney woman Rachelle Yeo have described the 31-year-old as a "positive spirit that lifted the lives of everyone around her".

Police released a statement of behalf of Rachelle's family on Friday and asked the public to respect their privacy.

In the statement, family members thanked her friends and colleagues for their support and vowed to "carry her in our hearts and on our shoulders driving us to do better".

"We have heard it said, and you will all know, that if Rachelle was a colour she would be yellow," the statement read

"She brightened everyone's life that she touched."

Rachelle was found in her apartment about 9.15pm Monday with critical injuries. She died soon after.

A 44-year-old Gold Coast man has been charged with her murder.
