RACHAEL Ingram gets today's Photo of the Day with this image of a sunset, shot from Burns Point Ferry Rd at Ballina on Saturday evening.

Rachael's image was one of a huge field of 15 submitted for today's Photo of the Day and was the clear crowd favourite, picking up a total 29% of the vote in our online poll yesterday.

This is the fifth photo Rachael's had named as Photo of the Day - she's quite a talent. Rachael's Photo of the Day submissions have so far mostly been landscapes, but she's probably better known locally for her work taking portraits of young children and babies. You can see more of her work here.

With such a wide field, Rachael's photo was one of only three to make it into double figures in the voting. At headshot of a pelican in profile by Lauren Watson took the second spot with 23% of the vote while a quite stunning black and white photo of a dolphin and her baby cruising at Ballina's North Wall took third place in the voting with 16%. You can see all of yesterday's Photo of the day submissions here.

Photo of the Day celebrates the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers. As well as appearing here it is published on Page 2 of our print edition and forms part of an expanding gallery on our website, which you can see below.

To submit an image for Photo of the Day, simply share it on our Facebook page.

On to tomorrow's Photo of the Day. We have seven submissions to choose from today, including three macro shots for those of you who enjoyed Karin Taylor's jumping spider yesterday.

You can see a gallery of the submissions for tomorrow's photo here. Hit the poll below and pick your favourite picture. There is another gallery link within the poll, above the thumbnails, so you can see bigger versions of the images.

Voting closes at noon.
