OPINION: Alstonville takes a stand against 'criminal scum'

CONGRATS to the community to make a stand!

Yes, Alstonville is a beautiful village that has unfortunately been targeted by criminal-scum!

Yes it's not a victimless crime it affects the whole community and business owners.

As a security business owner and 40 year local, I tried to establish security within the Alstonville and Wollongbar areas but business owners prefer to employ security companies from Lismore and Ballina with a minimum response time of half an hour to alarm calls, plus are only in the village for 10 minutes and then leave.

They have no connection with the community.

What policing? There is none.

If there, it is only when residents call or they drive through the village during daylight hours not when the crimes are being committed Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Policing and security is very simple presence - police or security vehicle or persons walking the beat and being stationed in the village all night to prevent the crimes happening not waiting or calling police after the crime has been committed.

Police theses days are a reaction to the action-crime being committed.

The Ballina council has done very little, if anything, to remove graffiti straight away.

This person should and will be named and shamed and will not be residing in Alstonville too long-as the community will not tolerant scum move to some houso area where your behaviour suits the area.

Stand tall Alstonville, make sure our village remains that peaceful beautiful village we all grew up in and live here so own kids can have the best of both worlds-family community spirit live strong.
