Questions over future of East Lismore medical centre

THE future of Prema House Medical Centre is uncertain with a number of doctors leaving and unconfirmed reports that reception staff were made redundant last Friday.

The East Lismore clinic remained open on Monday with a locum doctor attending to patients.

But Dr David Sterling, who was a senior partner in the practice, has left to work at Meridian Health's GP Superclinic.

Another doctor, Dr Silvia Clavero, has moved to Port Macquarie and Dr Rita Vinten is currently overseas.

The woman who was working at reception on Monday, Louise, said they were "going through a transition phase", but couldn't say whether the practice would remain open.
