Queensland team wins again

A QUEENSLAND team has won the $10,000 Evans Head Seaside Classic Triples for a second straight year.

Broadbeach bowler Clinton Bailey teamed up with Enoggera's Kurt Brown and Peter Leo to win all five games with a superior overall margin.

The trio played together for the first time at the event last year and have won a total of $9600 from the competition.

The top four teams all won five games, with Ballina team Mick Anderson, Kris Lehfeldt and Steve Piggot coming second.

Local team Serge Brecard, Terry Knudson and Glen Pitts finished third while club stalwart Peter Carey, Ted Butler and Brian Sten fared the best of the Evans Head teams to win four games.

A full field of 126 turned out for the two-day competition which featured some of the best bowlers from the Northern Rivers and south-east Queensland.

The event has been running for more than 10 years, with preparations already underway for next year.

Steve Cselka was in charge of proceedings again with Mid Richmond Plumbing coming on board as major sponsor for the first time.

"We're already planning next year's event and the brochure (was) ready for the players to take home with them at the end of the competition,” Cselka said.

"It will run November 5 and 6 next year.”
