Qantas flights 'back to normal'

AFTER two days of chaos leaving thousands of passengers stranded around the world, Qantas says its operations are back to normal this morning.

A Qantas spokesman said all flights were operating on the airline's regular schedule today, with two extra international services from Singapore to Perth and Sydney and one extra domestic flight from Alice Springs to Melbourne.

"All passenger backlog will be cleared by this afternoon," the spokesman said.

But passenger Varun Venkatraman said many travellers remained stranded in Los Angeles and were hoping to fly home by tomorrow night.

"It's a bit of a free for all where you turn up at the Qantas desk and try to argue your way in," he said.
