Your favourite artist is?
Billie Holiday, Elvis Costello
How is your debut EP Clementine being received?
Hopefully like the prodigal son.
You’ve toured with some interesting artists – who is your favourite and why?
That I’ve toured with? Tim Finn is one of my musical heroes, so touring with him was dynamite.
How’s touring with the new band?
It’s been great, actually.
Although I think when touring is over I’m going to need a few weeks to readjust to normal society.
Toilet humour is for the tour van only.
How exactly does a bear on a unicycle feel?
Top heavy and nervous.
When the tour is said and done – what’s next for Washington?
We’re going into the studio to keep working on our album. Terrifying, exciting … like a first date.
You’re playing at the Mullumbimby Music Festival – are you looking forward to seeing any other artists on the bill?
Laneous and the family Yah are incredible, Tin Pan Orange are gorgeous, and Leah Flanagan is also awesome.
It’s just win, win, win.
What can we expect from your show at the festival?
You can expect to learn how to feed a family of five using only a stick of gum, a Family Guy DVD and an iPhone.
