Public servants to stop work as campaign hits Brisbane

A NATIONAL industrial campaign concerning public servants will reach Brisbane on Wednesday with Customs officers and CSIRO employees set to walk off the job.

The protected action, which forms part of an ongoing rolling campaign across Australia, was expected to cause some delays for international passengers.

Australian Customs and Border Protection deputy chief executive Michael Outrum said international passengers travelling through the Brisbane and Gold Coast airports should allow for extra time for processing on Wednesday afternoon.

"We have contingency arrangements in place to protect Australia's borders and minimise impacts on business operations," he said.

"During protected industrial action the health and safety of our people and the protection of the border continue to be our priority.
