Protester arrested at Whian Whian logging site

A PROTESTER has been arrested at a logging site on private property at Whian Whian this morning.

Richmond Local Area Command Duty Officer Inspector Mick Dempsey said a 32-year-old Tamworth man was arrested this morning for trespassing.

"He was walking up towards the logging site," he said.

Insp Dempsey said this was the first arrest in relation to a small protest that began on Monday.

He said there were about six protesters near the Whian Whian Rd site this morning.

"Any encroachment on the private property is a trespassing offence."

The man has been granted bail to appear at Lismore Local Court in October.
