Program offers discounted cinema tickets
THE Star Court Theatre in Lismore has started a subscription membership program that allows art cinema enthusiasts to save money.
The Movie Membership Subscription program means a one-off payment of $30 done via the theatre's website or at the box office.
Members see the price of Sunday screenings at the theatre drop from $15 to $10 for 12 months.
Star Court Theatre co-manager Sharon Rigby said the program was re-introduced to benefit cinema buffs.
"We offer movies on Sundays 50 weeks in the year, as we only stop our weekly film schedule on Easter and Christmas, so a member can benefit from this discount up to 50 times for consecutive 12 months," she said.
Ms Rigby said the films scheduled to screen on Sundays at 2.30pm and 5.30pm are always part of the art cinema, documentary and independant film circuit, offering a different type of entertainment to local audiences.
On Sunday, January 10, the Star Court Theatre will screen The Program, from Academy Award nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena), depinting the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history, Lance Armstrong.
On Sunday, January 17, the theatre will be screening the documentary Putuparri and the Rainmakers, winner of the 2015 Cinefestoz Best Film prize.
Putuparri and the Rainmakers takes audiences on a rare and emotional journey to meet the traditional rainmakers of Australia's Great Sandy Desert. Ten years in the making, the film is an eyewitness account of the living traditions of Putuparri's people.
