Who will play No.6 at Titans?

GOLD Coast skipper Scott Prince says he has a preference for who he'd like to see playing alongside him in the No.6 jumper next season.

But he won't say any more.

"I won't tell you who it is, but he's one of three or four players," he said on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Jokingly asked if it was Mat Rogers, who made an ill-fated comeback for the Titans last year, which lasted just minutes before he broke his foot, Prince lifted an eyebrow, laughed, and replied: "I don't know."

But the halfback was more open about how the Titans needed stability in key positions next season, after finishing last in this year's NRL campaign.

"It's very important to have your fullback, five-eighth, halfback and hooker playing week-in and week-out and keeping that combination," he said.

"It starts with our trials and it's important for us now, given everyone stays healthy, to stick with those four players."

Six players were used in the pivot's role and four at fullback for the Titans this year, and the lack of continuity in the backline meant the Gold Coast finished the season with the worst attacking record in the competition.

Prince, looking to bounce back after an injury-interrupted season, said while he had some personal preferences as to who could fill the No.6 jumper, he backed coach John Cartwright to sort it out.

William Zillman, who has already put his hand up to play five-eighth after 13 games there last season, has impressed coaching staff in early training sessions but said he'd be just as happy to develop into the Titans' long-term solution at fullback.

Meanwhile, the Titans have formed a new partnership with 21 surf life saving clubs along the Gold Coast, with each club allocated a player as its official club ambassador.

"It's great that we now have a formal association with the surf clubs in the region, as they are a big part of the Gold Coast community,'' coach Cartwright said.
