Premier hails Nats by-election win
THE Nationals' win in the Clarence by-election is a clear indication of the public's support for the work the NSW government is doing, Premier Barry O'Farrell says.
The NSW Nationals on Saturday recorded their second highest primary vote in Clarence for at least twenty years, winning the by-election caused by the resignation of disgraced former Nationals MP Steve Cansdell.
Chris Gulaptis recorded a primary vote of more than 56 per cent in the northern NSW electorate, although it was also a swing against the 62.8 recorded by Mr Cansdell in the March election.

"That extraordinary primary vote yesterday, the second best primary vote in the seat of Clarence in the National Party's history, again reinforces the backing the electorate gives this NSW government to clean up the mess left to it by Labor," Mr O'Farrell told reporters in Sydney on Sunday.
