Pouring some fun into science

BUDDING scientists at the Nimbin Central School were treated to a display of liquid nitrogen experiments aimed at making science a fun subject to learn about at school.

Students from Years 6 to 10 were given an exciting lesson in the chemical properties and the effects of nitrogen in its liquid state - at a temperature below -196 degrees Celsius.

Science teachers Bill Zsigmond, Phil Shaw and Brad Clarke amazed the students with displays that included shrinking balloons, liquid nitrogen ice cream (very popular), ping pong ball spinner, the water egg, the boiling tea kettle, and freezing anti-freeze.
