Posters risky on power poles
POLITICAL campaign posters nailed to power poles around the Northern Rivers are not only an eyesore, they are putting Country Energy workers at risk, the power retailer has said.
Country Energy has released a statement saying its workers will tear down the posters wherever they encounter them and urging political candidates to stop putting their posters on power poles, saying they could become slippery in the rain and posed a hazard to workers trying to climb them at night to fix blackouts.
Country Energy spokesman Mike Hely declined to say if the call was directed at a particular party, or who had complained about the posters.
But Country Energy's statement closely follows complaints by The Nationals about Page MP Janelle Saffin's posters adorning the poles.
