Posters of peace win school prizes

PEACE is the ideal state of being, and students from Casino Public School Year 6 class have been doing their part to work towards it.

As part of the Lions Club International Peace Poster competition students submitted entries and achieved some amazing results.

The theme was "A Celebration of Peace”.

The winner of the Casino Lions Club branch competition was Kara Porter. Second was Taleesha Lambert and third was Hana Robertson.

Brielle Newham got a highly commended award.

The students received their award at the school assembly in front of their fellow students, all dressed up in Melbourne Cup finery for a mufti day.

Kara's entry will now be sent for judging to the Lions District competition.

From there entries from the Australian Lions Districts will be sent to America for judging in the world wide competition.

The international winner will receive a trip to the award ceremony and receive $5,000.

Merit award winners will each receive $500 and there will be 23 of those places.

Local Casino residents won't miss out on seeing the posters as they are currently on display at the Casino Public Library.
