Pools close for winter

IT'S closing time for swimmers this weekend as two popular pools close up shop for winter, Lismore Memorial Baths and Petria Thomas Pool in Mullumbimby.

Both Alstonville Olympic pool and Byron Bay pool will remain open until May 13.

After that the only two public pools remaining open in the region throughout the year are Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre and Evans Head (outdoor heated) pool.

There is also the SCU gym and pool Southern Cross University available for those wishing to join.

Lifeguard at Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre Lauren Death said "with winter in general people get psyched out from the pool, but we've always got the die-hard regulars."
