Police vow to catch vandals

POLICE are confident that vandals who left their mark on 25 busses at the Northern Rivers Buslines depot in East Lismore on Saturday night will be apprehended.

Three distinctive tags were left on the busses; SKIM, ZEKKA and SCAR, and police hope it may lead them to the culprits.

"Police are following leads as per information from the community and hope to make arrests soon," said Sergeant Toscan at Lismore.

Northern Rivers Buslines group operational manager, Geoff Ferris said it would take three days to clean all the busses and that four busses were out of action on Monday because of "suggestive pictures and swearing".

"It's a waste of time and effort and very disappointing," he said.

Some busses were covered all over, others only in parts.

Mr Ferris said the vandals cut through a fence sometime on Saturday night.

He said security measures have now been increased to avoid it happening again.
