Police treating fatal balcony fall as suspicious
HOMICIDE detectives are investigating the latest in a string of high-rise balcony deaths in Sydney.
A 48-year-old woman fell four floors to her death at a block of units Sydney's east on Thursday.
The group she was with, including her partner, has been questioned by police.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday morning Detective Superintendent Gavin Dengate said the woman's death was being treated as suspicious.
A 21-year-old woman died after falling from a 10th floor balcony at Cronulla hotel in January but police ruled her death was a tragic accident.
A week later, a toddler underwent surgery after falling from a balcony at Balmain.
The 19-month old was playing with another child when his father turned away momentarily and failed to catch him when he slipped.
He has since been released from hospital.
