Family plea to find murderer
JEFFERY Ryan was a highly respected and prominent figure in the Casino community.
As a talented junior footballer he played for Casino RSM before a stint in Sydney rugby league under 20s.
He worked in the trades before following his father, Earl, into cattle breeding, becoming renowned in the industry.
He moved from Casino about five years ago to further his cattle breeding ambitions in Tamworth.
Lismore Nationals MP Thomas George went to school with Mr Ryan and was shocked to hear of his death.
“Jeff was just showing cattle at the Brisbane show a fortnight ago. To hear he’s gone under such tragic circumstances is unbelievable, particularly for a man right in the prime of his life.
“I’ve know him since our school days and I knew his family very well.
“He was an active member of the community and was involved in all the shows. He loved his cattle and was very competitive.
“Our condolences go out to his whole family.”
Dean Jensen from the Australian Red Poll Cattle Breeders society said it was a huge shock to the whole Red Poll community around the country.
“Everybody knew him and he was very well respected,” Mr Jensen said.
“He was active in the Red Poll youth camps where he’d take time to train kids how to show and judge livestock. He would sponsor it and bring his own cattle along. We’ll miss him.”
