Police seek info on masked man

AFTER three significant armed robbery arrests in recent weeks, police want to catch this offender, who held-up Coffs Harbour's United service station at gunpoint earlier this month.

Coffs Harbour detectives yesterday released security images of the man, who wore a distinctive 'Scream' mask and armed himself with an old-style sawn-off shotgun.

Police said the man entered the service station on Thursday, November 3, about 11.35pm.

He pointed the 76cm-long firearm at an attendant and got away with cash from the store till and the staff member's wallet.

No shots were fired and police raced to the scene and conducted an extensive search of the area, but the man got away on foot and was last seen running towards the Jetty strip.

The man is thought to have dark skin, aged between 18 and 20 years old, about 170cm tall, with a slim build, wearing a long hooded blue rain jacket.

Police are investigating whether this incident could be related to a number of other armed robberies in the area.

Anyone with information about the United robbery or who may know the offender should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
