Police seek info about body found at Tweed

POLICE have appealed to the public for any information about the body of a young man found at Wooyung last week as they prepare a report for the coroner.

According to police, a man was walking through the Wooyung Nature Reserve on the Tweed Coast Road on Friday afternoon, January 4, when he noticed a tent which had been in the same location a week earlier.

He went to investigate and found a body inside the tent; he then alerted police from Tweed Byron Local Area Command who initiated an investigation.

A post mortem examination will be conducted this week on the body to determine identity and cause of death.

Missing persons' reports are being checked as part of investigation.
