Police searching for armed robber

TWEED detectives who were searching for an armed robber in Pottsville on Thursday are now seeking public assistance.

According to police, two women were working in the café on Coronation Ave when a man entered the store via the rear door about 4pm.

The man was armed with a hammer and confronted one of the women and demanded cash.

He was given cash from the register and fled the store on foot and was last seen walking around a nearby football oval towards a community centre.

The two women were not injured during the robbery.

Detectives were looking for a man with a Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid 20s, 175 - 180cm tall with short brown hair.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing a blue long-sleeve collared shirt and light-coloured three-quarter length pants.
