NSW prison escapee recaptured by police

UPDATE: A convicted robber who escaped from a Northern NSW prison on Thursday morning is back behind bars.

Benjamin Wayne Scott, 31, was serving a 12 month sentence for assault, robbery and driving offences when he allegedly fled the Cessnock jail just before 10am.

He was arrested at Mt Druitt shopping centre about six hours later.

The alarm was raised just two days after Glen Innes escapee Ashley Cullen was recaptured at Blayney.

The 21-year-old, from Toormina on the NSW Mid North Coast, had been on the run since he broke out of the unit he shared with two others in April.

Another minimum security inmate, Ryan O'Hara, was still at large on Thursday night after escaping from the Parklea Correctional Centre at the weekend.

The 29-year-old was serving a sentence for fraud and driving offences and breaching parole.

Police have urged anyone with information to dial 000.
