Police search for missing man after ute found on its roof

POLICE are continuing to call on information from the public that may help them find missing man John Shaw.

About 2.30am on Saturday a white Mitsubishi utility was found on its roof off the Oxley Highway, about 25km east of Mt Seaview.

It's believed the utility was being driven by 45-year-old John Shaw, who'd been to lunch with family in Taree, and was last seen driving home about 3.30pm on Christmas Day.

No one was found in the car and, despite inquiries by police, there's been no sign of Mr Shaw either at his home or at any local hospitals.

Yesterday, police performed an extensive land search of the area near where Mr Shaw's car was found. The search did not yield any results.

Officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command continue to hold concerns for Mr Shaw's well-being, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact police.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 173cm tall, with a medium/fit build, and black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts and white sneakers.
