A 17-YEAR-OLD girl was hospitalised after being found with multiple stab wounds in the front garden of a home in Shearman Drive, Goonellabah, on Sunday.

The girl was stabbed in the stomach and neck, and "given the nature of the wounds, it wasn't a small knife," Inspector Matt Keogh, of Lismore police, said.

It was likely the offender was known to the girl, he said.
