Police rescue squad saves pony from creek

POLICE rescuers were called to Booerie Creek near Lismore yesterday morning after reports a pony was stuck in the creek.

Officers received the call about 7.30am and police rescue was dispatched.

The pony was retrieved safe and well by 8.50am with police rescue reporting the creek water wasn't as cold as first thought.

An officer rescued the pony by entering the water, wearing a wetsuit, and attaching a harness to it. The rescue truck's winch was then used to pull the animal to freedom.
