Police discover meth lab in Coffs Harbour apartment

A MAN, 36, will today face court after police found drug manufacturing equipment and a quantity of drugs in a raid on Monday night.

Police were required to force entry to the Victoria St apartment just after 9pm arresting the man after executing a search warrant.

During the raid police discovered equipment for the manufacture of meth amphetamine as well as a quantity of drugs.

Coffs Harbour Police Duty Officer Inspector Jo Reid said local police had been tipped off.

"Information had been received from residents that drug manufacturing may be taking place inside the residence," Inspector Reid said.

"The residence had been monitored before a search warrant was obtained

"All precautions were taken in the search with chemical operations officers on the scene."

The man was refused bail and is due to today face Coffs Harbour Court on a charge of manufacturing a prohibited substance.
