Police raid Tenterfield hemp crop

A MAJOR cannabis plantation was raided by police on a private property east of Tenterfield on Tuesday.

Tenterfield police, in conjunction with the NSW Target Action Group, executed a search warrant on the Rocky River Road property about 2pm.

Officers located and seized 1058 small cannabis plants and a number of other items. The seized drugs have an estimated potential street value of just over $1 million.

Tuesday’s operation followed the earlier discovery of about 340 cannabis plants growing in another area of the same property in late April.

Investigations are continuing and police have appealed for public assistance.

The bust follows two raids in the region on April 29, netting an estimated $335,000 worth of cannabis.

Police also seized cannabis valued at $225,000 from a Blue Knob property and $110,000 at Mount Burrell, near Murwillumbah.

Anyone with information on the Rocky River Road plantation is urged to contact Tenterfield police on 6771 0699.
