Police pursuit sees car go flying into paddock

POLICE have reported a 37 year old man is in hospital after leading police on a short pursuit in Lismore on Friday night.

Police allege around 9pm on Friday, May 6 a vehicle was travelling along Molesworth Street, Lismore.

Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, however, the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit commenced.

The vehicle continued onto Winterton Parade and failed to negotiate a sweeping left hand bend thus leaving the road, flying 30 metres through the air, landing in a paddock.

Ambulance arrived and conveyed the driver to Lismore Base Hospital.

Empty cans of alcohol were located throughout the vehicle.

The driver remains in hospital with a fractured ankle and vertabrae.

Charges are pending.
