Police may have found body of missing 18-year-old
LATEST: Ipswich police found the body of an 18-year-old man, believed to be that of missing Leichhardt man Reece Austin, this morning.
Police and SES were about to begin searching around the Wulkuraka rail bridge when the body of a male was found under the bridge at around 8.30am.
Mr Austin, 18, has been missing since leaving his family home in Bass St Leichhardt on Tuesday following a family argument.
Ipswich police Inspector Keith McDonald said the identity of the male is yet to be confirmed, but Mr Austin's family have been notified of the discovery.
"The family have been notified and they are extremely distraught," he said.
"Particularly at this time of year this is the last thing a family wants to happen."
Following Mr Austin's disappearance, police and SES conducted searches of bushland adjacent to Leichhardt, calling in the stock squad and a helicopter to help locate the missing man.
Police were initially concerned for his wellbeing with temperatures reaching the high 30s early this week.
Insp McDonald said it believed the man died on Tuesday.
