Police hunt for gunman
POLICE were last night closing in on a man wanted for questioning over a shooting at Toormina.
A 30-year-old man was shot in the upper arm after a heated argument on the front veranda of his Lalaguli Dr home on Sunday about 10pm.
The victim underwent surgery at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus and was yesterday transferred to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
Police said detectives were now seeking to question a Boambee East man, 29, in relation to the incident.
Neighbours told police they heard the two men arguing before the sound of a gunshot rang out.
Police said the man who fled the scene was known to the victim and a woman aged in her 30s, who was also home at the time, was uninjured.
It is believed the suspected gunman left the scene in a vehicle which was described as a red Holden Commodore by one witness.
Police arrived to find the occupant suffering from the effects of a gunshot wound.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the Coffs Harbour Hospital emergency ward.
A Mid North Coast Local Health District spokeswoman said the man was transferred to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital yesterday and his condition had been upgraded to 'stable.'
Anyone with information should call Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
