Police hunt break-and-enter gang

UPDATE: POLICE are hunting three males who broke into the Bonalbo Post Office overnight and assaulted the business owner.

At 1am, police said three persons broke into a business premise on Koreelah Street.

They were confronted by the owner and there was a scuffle, Richmond Local Area crime manager Detective Inspector Greg Moore said.

"The persons then ran from the scene," he said.

"As a result the owner sustained an injury to his hand and is currently receiving treatment at Lismore Base Hospital."

One of the offenders was armed with a "pipe or similar implement", Det Insp Moore said.

A crime scene was established and detectives are investigating.

At 10am, police arrested a Bonalbo man and took him to Casino Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.

Police are still looking for three offenders described as follows:

  • Male, approx. 5'2" tall, dark complexion, shaved  head, wearing a white singlet, dark coloured pants and approx. 17-years-old.
  • Male, wearing black/dark hoodie jacket with long dark pants, approx. 6' tall, skinny build.
  • Male, blonde hair, fair complexion, approx 16-years-old
